Droid 2 released with Froyo

August 13th, 2010 MyMobile911 No comments

As we’ve been waiting, the Droid 2 is finally release. If you own a Droid, the Droid 2 is going to be your next upgrade. First, the OEM cradles like the desktop cradle and the car holder are compatible for both Droid and Droid 2. Second, the built quality for Droid 2 is as solid as the Droid.  I think some of you may think the same thing as me that Droid X’s built quality is a little too filmsy.  Third, it comes with Android 2.2 Froyo!!  Now, there are only Nexus One, EVO 4G and Droid 2 which have the Froyo.

BlackBerry Torch 9800 is coming to AT&T on Aug 12

August 3rd, 2010 MyMobile911 No comments

BlackBerry has just announced their new smartphone, the new Torch 9800.  This 9800 is the first slider phone from BlackBerry.  The lucky carrier that is going to carry this Torch is AT&T.  This Torch 9800 equiped with a touch screen (multi-touch enabled) and a sliding QWERTY keyboard, very similar to the 9700 keyboard.  The chrome design around the phone actually made the phone more elegant.  On the OS, this Torch is equiped with BlackBerry 6 which BlackBerry is claiming this BlackBerry 6 has the best and most innovative web browser.   AT&T will be the first carrier that carries this Torch 9800.  From some internet posting, this will be the last shot for BlackBerry to get back into the smartphone industry.  All the noises are positive so far.  But I think the weakest point for BlackBerry is the App feature.  Actually, this is the same App issue killing Windows Mobile.  Nowadays, all users are looking for free apps or more apps for their device.

HTC Droid Incredible only cost $163.35 to make

July 30th, 2010 MyMobile911 No comments

Android phones has been the biggest hit for this year.  From Nexus One, Sprint EVO 4G and Incredible, tons of new high-end Android phones had already hit the market.  Will you be wondering how much it costs to make these phones?

You are paying $199 for this Incredible from Verizon with 2 yr contracts.  However, iSuppli.com did an analysis and found the Droid Incredible actually cost HTC $163.35 to make.  To compare with the Nexus One, $174.15, it is just less than $10 different.  This is why the two amazing Android phones can be head to head in the market.

Do you think you are paying what it worth?

For all Android users, are you excited with all the Android latest update news yet?  Recently, Google updated their Maps to version4.4.  The major update for this version is to add a software called “Places”.  For those who are using Urbanspoon or similar software, you can start deleting them.  Google Maps’ Places will serve all the functions that you need.  The basic manual comes with food, attractions, gas stations, etc. for your emergency needs.  You can also add some additional categories if you want to.  Comments are also available when you choose your selection and find out how others experience for that places.  Android phone users, you will be able to download already.  BlackBerry users will be next.

HTC is rolling out 6 new devices in 4th quarter this year.  The six models are heading to US and Europe with both Android and Windows Phone 7 OS.  According to DigiTimes, HTC will ship in a total of 8.5 million units in Quarter 4.  This includes the Vision dual-core and a Android smartphone to Europe in October.  The Mondrain, which is a Windows Phone 7 based device will also be headed to Europe later this year.  T-Mobile US is adding loaded for HTC on two Android phones, Vanguard and Emerald as well as a Windows Phone 7 device.  In additional, AT&T will add a Windows Phone 7 device in November too.

To a lot of people, it seems like Droid X, EVO 4G and all Galaxy S phones are filling up the rest of the year.  It is a surprise that there are still more to come beyond our expectations.

Amazing T-Mobile 3.5G Data speed with Froyo 2.2

July 14th, 2010 MyMobile911 No comments

How many of you have your Nexus One update?  I recently updated my Nexus One to Froyo 2.2 FRF91.  On the data connection, the most recognized update is definitely the speed.  In the “About Phone”, the data connection is showing HSDPA (3.5G, up to 8-10Mbps) instead of UMTS (3G, up to 2.0Mbps).  If you look at the picture which I had done some speed testing with the Nexus One on the T-Mobile network, you can see the fastest download speed I can get is 4.630Mbps and upload speed at 1.580Mbps.   This result is faster than most of the standard DSL connection at home.  This is amazing.
