Do you have an old Android phone laying around after upgrading to a newer Android phone? Are you stucked on the activation screen after restoring the phone? Here is the trick. At the first screen where you see the big green Android, press the four corners in the sequence of “top left”, “Top right”, “Bottom right” and “Bottom left”. This will actually bring you to a backup utility screen. You can skip this and you will see the home screen. All functions will work just fine. This had been tested on Droid, Droid X and Droid 2.

When you see a strange Android out of the box logo, hold down the “on/off” button and hit “volume up”. This will bring you to another screen with an option, “apply SD update.zip”. 5 mins later, you are done!!
